My love for American cars

The Cars of America

The first thing that struck me in America was the cars. Everywhere I look, I see pickup trucks, SUVs, Jeeps, and Chevys—and I absolutely love it. Big tires, beautiful colors, and unique styles—every car here seems to tell its own story.

When I first arrived in America, I didn’t have a car, so I started renting through the Turo website. As a foreigner, buying a car turned out to be almost impossible. A dealer recommended Turo, and it was much cheaper than renting from companies like Avis.

Eventually, I bought a minivan for $800 from a farmer. After a while, I traded it in for a Mazda B4000 pickup truck—my new project. Next came a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, but unfortunately, the engine gave out after eight months. Then I bought a Chevy S10 for $1,300, which I painted pink and white—a bit of a 1950s vibe. Sadly, it also broke down during the winter.

A friend of mine drives a Jeep—a real monster car—perfect for getting through the snow. Inspired by that, I ended up with my current car, a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Every time I get a new car, I think about my daughter. She would have loved driving here, especially since you can start at just 14 years old. I was so excited at the thought of teaching her to drive; she would have adored it. She always had a favorite type of car, and I see so many of them on the roads here.
